(ISSN 1560–4373)

A Biannual Journal of the World University of Bangladesh

CALL FOR PAPERS

It is of much pleasure to announce that the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) has made a noble effort to publish a journal entitled “South Asian Journal of Population and Health”(ISSN 1560-4373) with the acronym ‘JPH’. The journal is planned to be published twice a year in January and July. We are planning to bring out the first issue of the journal in January 2008, as its inaugural issue. The journal is designed to serve as window of development processes and programs that are underway in Bangladesh and other South Asian countries. We welcome submissions that significantly contribute to the field of population, development, health and nutrition at the national and international levels. It is expected that the journal will be highly relevant especially for those who are from developing countries for cross-fertilization of their ideas and exchanging views and information. The attached sheet provides an outline of the editorial policy that may help you in submitting your paper.

EDITORIAL POLICY

The South Asian Journal of Population and Health (JPH) is issued twice a year from the World University of Bangladesh (WUB), ARA Centre, House No. 20, Road No. 7 Dhanmondi, Dhaka–1205, Bangladesh. The editor welcomes submissions that significantly contribute to the issues related to the population, development, women, health and environment from both inside and outside Asia. Articles that have previously been published or that are under review in another journal will not be considered for publication. Revised manuscripts that are submitted one year after the last action by the editor will be considered as new submission. Opinions in articles published in this journal are solely the responsibility of the individual contributors, and do not reflect the endorsement of JPH.

REVIEW OF MANUSCRIPTS

All manuscripts considered appropriate for the JPH are reviewed externally by professionals in the field. Submission of a manuscript to JPH is taken to indicate the author’s commitment to publish it in the journal.

SUBMISSION OF MANUSCRIPTS

Papers to be submitted for publication in JPH should be mailed directly to the Chief Editor. If possible the authors are requested to submit the manuscript as an e-mail attachment. Three copies of any manuscript submitted for consideration, are requested for the reviewing process. The manuscript should be type written on 8.5 ´11 inch paper, entirely double-spaced, including references, with wide margins at sides, top and bottom. The manuscript will not normally be returned to the author. The author should retain an extra copy of the manuscript for future reference. All manuscripts should be accompanied by a cover letter.

TITLE AND ABSTRACT

The title should be descriptive and as concise as possible with every word in it pertinent. An abbreviated title to be used as a running head should also be provided, which normally should not exceed 20-30 characters. The manuscript should contain an extended abstract of approximately 250 words. The main purpose of this is to inform the readers quickly of the nature and results of the study on which this paper is based.

LENGTH OF MANUSCRIPT

Considering the high cost of printing, contributions should be as concise as possible and should not normally exceed 20 typed pages including tables, figures, charts and references. Lengthy technical notes, if any, should be provided as a separate appendix to the manuscript.

 FIGURES AND TABLES

Figures, charts and diagrams should be prepared in a form suitable for photographic reproduction and should be professionally drawn twice the size they are to be printed. These may be submitted upon acceptance of the paper. Tables should be typed on separated pages numbered consecutively at the top and clearly titled and labeled with accompanying footnotes immediately below the table.
